As we begin each new year, we pray to be inscribed in the Book of Life for a year of blessings, good health and peace. That prayer is especially felt this year.
We remember the horror of Oct 7th, 2023 and the loss of 1200 innocent lives that day. There are still over 100 hostages being kept in Gaza, away from their loved ones. We pray for their safe return.
This past year has been especially challenging for Jews here and around the world. We’ve seen the rise of antisemitism especially on college campuses. We pray for the safety of all children.
Rosh Hashanah begins on the evening of October 2.

Knesseth Israel Synagogue (KIS) is a Conservative synagogue serving the Jewish population of Fulton & Montgomery Counties and surrounding areas in Upstate New York since 1891. At 120+, we are one of the oldest continuously operating congregations in the Northeast. Since Covid we have added an online community through Zoom and we’re delighted to have people joining our services and programs from many corners of the world.
Our services offer a warm and welcoming environment for spiritual growth and communal connection. We are fully egalitarian and encourage each person to participate as much as they wish or are able to. Our services are a mixture of Hebrew & English and we welcome members with all levels of knowledge and experience of Judaism and diverse backgrounds.
Rabbi Suzanne leads our congregation and our services with warmth, music & ruach (spirit).
